Tradition

The idea for creating of a Sugar factory in Bulgaria is more than 140 years old.

1911 – after 16 years of discussions on March 25th, 1911 it was announced that the Sugar factory would be in Plovdiv. The construction works for the new factory began at the end of September.

1912-1914 – The first machines were delivered, sugar production began for the first time in Bulgaria. The company`s activity was registered with a Decree of the Minister of Finances dated September 30th, 1914.

1948 – Sugar Factory ”Vasil Kolarov” was established.

1953 – the Confectionary Factory merged with the Sugar Factory

1997 – the Sugar company Crystal AD, Plovdiv was established.

In the years of its existence the company changed its status and owners several times until 1996, when the Joint-stock Company was established, with majority owner Valcho Arabadjiev and a new team of managers.

Along with the sugar production, the company started producing a wide range of confectionary and chocolate products. The new company policy is market oriented and is based on the years-old traditions in the production of sugar and chocolate goods.

The company aims at meeting the consumers` requirements for different price ranges by offering high quality products in compliance with the ISO 9001:2000, and defending the interests of the company owners and its employees.
